If you own a dv9000 series laptop currently using the Intel Core 2 Duo chipset, then you'll need hp part number 447983-001 which in detail is the"Intel PM965 System board - With nVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS 256MB dedicated video graphics memory - For use only with model with discrete video system memory".
447983-001 has the following ports which should be the same as your current laptop board: 2 x SATA HDD plugs, 2 x USB ports and 1 x 1394 firewire, HDMI, LAN, a media card reader and has web camera with TV-Out connections.
When buying the new part, I highly recommend finding which version 8600M video card it has. This is important because G86-771-A2 is the new revision to the older nVIDIA GeForce 8600M G86-770-A2 GPU.

How To Repair A HP Pavilion Dv9000 Laptop Motherboard.
The Alienware R17x I own all of a sudden got blue screened and read “Unmountable Boot Volume”. Tried safemode, Wouldn’t boot into that, wouldn’t boot in normal windows, and couldn’t even test the drivers to see what was wrong. It made funny sounds too. The computer was fried and it wouldn’t even get to the log on screen.
Thanks for helping me out and figuring out it was a motherboard issue. I got the new one in and couldn’t be happier. Everything works fine now and I could not of done this myself.
I need some help regarding purchasing a new motherboard for my HP DV series laptop. The original board went dead after it beeped 3 times when booting which I found out mean’s that the GPU died.
I know from some digging that this common on the GPU 7200go models. So I am heading towards buying a systemboard with a different graphic chip, like a Intel one.
The original motherboard is spare number 433280-001. My main question is if I have to be careful in buying a different motherboard or just any DV6000 model with a AMD do?

If you turn over your laptop and read the bottom where it has all the writing, find where it has the exact model number of your machine – I can tell you exactly which motherboard part number you need for your notebook. I can look it up by either the number that ends with #ABA or just the exact series # of laptop which would look like DV9540US or DV9500US.
There is only about 2 numbers on the bottom so it should be very easy to find. When you get that information let me know what it say’s and I will give you the exact part number you should be searching for. I hope this will help you save time and frustration. Thanks for writing.
